CONSTRUCTION KIT - WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
You will receive instructions, enough sheets of paper and the blank for the lampshade. The instructions tell you how to fold the paper and how to apply the paper elements to the lampshade blank. The paper is ready printed and cut. So all you have to do is fold & glue - a piece of cake that requires some time.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO MAKE A LAMP?
For the small version (35cm diameter) you need about 4 hours. For the large version (45cm diameter) you will need about 8-10 hours.
IKEA UPCYCLING VERSION. WHICH LAMP SHADE DO I NEED?
For the "Ikea upcycling version" you need the 45cm diameter lampshade from Ikea.
IS IT DIFFICULT TO BUILD THE LAMP?
No. We have sold the set to children as young as 11 who just love to tinker. It is just hard work. On it does not require 100% accurate work. The paper elements are simply glued on wherever there is space. The more densely the elements are attached, the more you need, of course. But the end result is always coherent, no matter if you use many or a little less elements.
HOW TO CLEAN THE LAMP SHIELD?
As this is a paper product, any damp or wet cleaning is of course not an option. Experience over the years has shown that regular cleaning with a feather duster works well. You can also simply blow off the lampshade with a cold hairdryer. This is quicker than cleaning every cupboard.
HOW LONG DO THE LAMPS LAST?
Basically forever. We transport our lamps to markets about 10 times a year. Because of the glued on paper elements, the lampshade seems to have a kind of airbag. It doesn't bother the lampshade if it gets squeezed a bit. Since paper yellows over time, the lampshade will change color slightly over time. This also depends on whether or not the lamp gets a lot of sun during the day.
